San Francisco Children’s Art Center

San Francisco Children’s Art Center

“The San Francisco Children’s Art Center isn’t your ordinary art center — it’s a space where children explore and develop their creative potential

Established in 1978, The San Francisco Children’s Art Center (SFCAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, child-centered community art organization that values the importance of process-oriented art instruction. At SFCAC, children experience the advantage of direct contact with professional artists and connections with their peers from different schools and backgrounds in a small, art focused setting. A Reggio Emilia inspired program, children are challenged to make creative choices through age-appropriate art activities including drawing, painting, sculpture and digital photography. Children use art as they develop language to share their stories, solve challenges, and express ideas. Our hope is that even after one class we can instill an awareness and appreciation of creativity and increase the number of creators in our community.

Join us this summer at our Fort Mason art studio as we explore, create, and collaborate with weekly morning classes for children ages 22 months through 5.5 years, and week-long workshops and camps for children entering 1st – 5th grades.  SFCAC’s Summer Session begins June 5th. Visit our website for more details on our summer programs and links to enroll.”

Emerald City Pirates

Emerald City Pirates

“Our 90-minute Family Treasure Cruises occur during the day–before 5pm. Ideal for birthday celebrations, they are interactive pirate ship cruises for all ages with a focus on kids. The cruises are aboard our brand-new, 50-foot Coast Guard inspected pirate ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge. You’ll get a pirate vest to wear during the cruise. You’ll be entertained by our band of merry pirates and our state-of-the-art sound system. Learn to talk and act like pirates. Children will each receive one toy from the ship’s treasure chest.

The climax of the trip is when we fire the ship’s water cannons at our rogue pirate who has been known to make off with our loot! All pirates get certificates at the end of the voyage. We typically cruise waters that are calm and scenic. Most of our cruises occur on Lake Union which offers a spectacular view of the Seattle skyline and Space Needle. Occasionally we pick passengers up in different locations. Pay close attention to the pickup location for the cruise you are booking.

Book individual tickets online. Call to book birthday party groups and to book Private Charters.”

MontanaMilan

MontanaMilan

“When I was a young design student at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, I fell in love with the idea of creating children’s wear. The inspiration for MontanaMilan comes from the names of my two eldest daughters; like the simplicity in the big sky state of Montana, and the legendary beauty of Milan. I wanted my company to be rooted in my truth as a mother, and for my brand to have a story close to my heart.

Reconditioning a need in the industry, I envisioned creating timeless, classic, and non-commercial children’s garments inspired by the color, adventure, and playfulness of childhood. All MontanaMilan fabrics are 100% chemical free, and our products are Made in the USA bringing you the absolute best in style and consciousness.

What has started out, as a passion for design has become an engaging and wonderful journey. I truly hope that by sharing my joy, your young ones will sing in the rain, smile with the sun, and enjoy being a child. My vision is to allow your child to explore the world in gentle garments.”

Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club

Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club

“Awarded “Fencing Club of the Year” and “Best Fencing Club” by National Fencing Club Rankings, Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club, founded in 2010 by Olympian and US Olympic Coach Dan Kellner, bridges the gap between expert fencing instruction and the bustling community of Brooklyn. No longer would Brooklynites need to cross the bridge (Brooklyn or otherwise) to find Olympic-level fencing. Situated right in their backyard, BBFC is located on the fifth floor of a former tea warehouse at 68 Jay Street along the cobblestone streets of Dumbo. The historically-rich neighborhood proves a fitting backdrop to the dynamic and challenging sport of fencing with a fascinating history that dates back thousands of years.

Dan and his staff teach all levels of students — young and old, beginner and experienced. The philosophy is simple: fencing should be both fun and competitive. BBFC instills self-confidence, sportsmanship, ambition, and analytical thinking through positive motivation. Whether a student has aspirations to compete in the Olympic Games, make a high school varsity squad, or just learn a new sport, students will have a great time developing fencing skills that challenge both body and mind while simultaneously preparing them for success at the level they wish to achieve.”
